After a slow first half, the Skins rolled to a 24-7 lead early in the fourth quarter, led by two TDs by Riggins who had returned to the lineup. But San Diego played tough for the entire game, and scored 17 points in quick succession to tie the game at the two minute warning. Washington's offense marched the field in an efficient two-minute drill, setting up a game winning Moseley field goal as time expired.
