1984 Week 8 | Washington Redskins 24 : St Louis Cardinals 26
The Redskins had dominated the Cardinals twice the previous year, so there were high hopes that this game would give Washington another win to keep a five game streak alive. The teams traded scores in the first half, and the Skins trailed 10-7 at halftime. Washington appeared to be pulling away in the third quarter, scoring twice to open up a 21-10 lead. But St Louis kept taking shots, including a long TD bomb, and only a missed extra point had them trailing 24-23 late in the fourth. The Redskins could not hold onto the ball to run out the clock, and the Cardinals were able to drive into position for the game winning field goal.
