1986 | 12-4 | NFC Wildcard

With a strong-armed young quarterback, a new RB replacing the retired Riggins, and a talented supporting cast, the 1986 Skins looked like a dominant team throughout much of the season.

The Redskins stormed out of the gate to a 6-1 record, showcasing a powerful downfield passing game. George Rogers continued the power running tradition, and he was complemented by Kelvin Bryant, who was an outstanding threat coming out of the backfield.

Unfortunately, in 1986 the offensive fireworks proved futile against the division rival NY Giants, who had emerged as the season's powerhouse with a dominant defense and an efficient offense. NY swept the Redskins during the regular season, and shut them out in the NFC championship game.
