1986 NFC Championship Game | Washington Redskins 0 : New York Giants 17

The Giants had beaten Washington twice during the regular season, but after a convincing road win against the tough Bears, the Redskins had reason to think they could come away with a win against a familiar opponent.

This was the Giants' year, however, and a swirling, brisk Meadowlands wind and a deafening crowd set the tone for the game. From the beginning, it was clear that the elements and the Giants relentless defense would not give the Skins any chance of threatening the Giants. New York scored all of its 17 points in the first half, taking few chances on offense. Washington's offense, meanwhile, could not convert a single first down the entire game. Schroeder was harrassed all game by Taylor and the Giants front seven, and when he did have time was frustrated by New York's well-executed zone coverage. The high from the Chicago win didn't last long, and New York went on to the Super Bowl.
