1986 Week 16 | Washington Redskins 21 : Philadelphia Eagles 14
Despite losing two in a row, the Redskins had still clinched a playoff spot. However, Gibbs did not want to enter the playoffs on a three-game losing streak. For much of the game, this did not look likely. The Eagles jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter, and the Redskins offense could not get in gear at all.
Redskins veterans would say after the game that they had never seen Gibbs as upset with the team as he was during this halftime. The Skins responded, with the defense shutting the Eagles down and the offense finally coming to life in the fourth quarter. Schroeder threw two TDs and got the team in position for Rogers run for the go ahead score. The tough win gave Washington its best record since 1983 and sent them into the playoffs on a winning note.
