Washington survived another wild shootout, this time with the Vikings. Scoring started quickly with two lead changed in the first quarter. The Skins opened up a 10-0 lead, but Minnesota stormed back to a 14-10 lead. The Redskins defense answered in the second, with Dexter Manley returning a fumble for a TD. Tony Zendejas missed the extra point, though, and another Vikings FG gave them a 17-16 halftime lead.
The wild scoring continued in the third quarter. Minnesota scored first on a long TD pass, but the Redskins responded with a FG and a long George Rogers TD rumble. With the score 26-24, Minnesota answered with their third long TD strike of the game, closing the third leading 31-26.
The Vikings opened the fourth quarter with a long TD drive extending their lead to 38-26. But Washington's offense responded with a Monk TD catch another Rogers run. Unfortunately, Zendejas missed both extra points, and instead of ending up with a game-winning lead, the Washington rally was only enough to send the game into overtime. Schroeder hit Gary Clark on a long pass to win the wild game in OT.
