1987 Week 12 | Washington Redskins 34 : St. Louis Cardinals 17

The Redskins played a close first half, but pulled away after halftime to close out a sweep of the Cardinals.

Washington led 10-0 in the first quarter, led by a long TD bomb to Gary Clark. But St Louis scored on two TD passes of their own and went into halftime leading 14-10.

The Skins' offense shone in the third quarter. After a St Louis FG widened their lead, Washington scored 21 unanswered points, getting TD runs from QB Schroeder and George Rogers, and a TD catch from Clint Didier. A lone Washington FG was the only scoring of the fourth quarter, giving the Redskins an impressive win.

I am a long-time Redskin fan

I am a long-time Redskin fan from Indiana. My step-brother and a buddy of mine are also fans, and we sort of knew that the Cardinals were leaving St Louis at the end of the year. We decided to make the trip and had a blast. There seemed to be a lot of Redskin fans in attendance, and I think Joe Theismann was a color commentator for CBS that game; I think I spotted him in the broadcast booth. The Schroeder to Clark TD bomb was around 85 yards if I remember right, and we were sitting in the end zone in the direction of the pass. I remember seeing the play develop using binoculars, and it was awesome! I think George Rogers rushed for about 120 yards as well. Little did I dream that Doug Williams would be the QB in the Super Bowl; I don't think he played a minute in that game.
