Washington hoped to open 2-0 with a win over Atlanta, but a series of mistakes nullified another strong performance by Doug Williams.
The teams played to a 7-7 tie at halftime, and traded touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters. But a missed extra point after the third quarter TD left the Redskins one point short. Washington also missed several FG tries due to poor snaps.
