The losing continued for the Redskins against Cleveland in a game that was in hand for much of the contest.
Neither team moved the ball much in the first half, and the Browns clung to a 3-0 halftime lead. Washington appeared to break the game open in the third quarter, with a Rypien-to-Clark TD leading the way to a 10-3 lead.
The Browns responded with a TD of their own to re-tie the game. Washington again took the lead with a FG, but late in the fourth quarter future Redskin Earnest Byner found the end zone after a 27 yard burst, giving Cleveland the go-ahead score.
