1988 Week 16 | Washington Redskins 17 : Cincinnati Bengals 20

The Skins needed to win this final game to prevent the team from posting its first losing record under Joe Gibbs.

Washington opened an early 10 point lead, but Boomer Esiason led Cinci on two scoring drives to tie the game by halftime. The Redskins took the lead again in the third quarter on a long Sanders TD, but that score was answered by a long Bengals strike in the fourth.

Washington had a chance to win in regulation, but missed a FG. Cincinnati was able to get in position for the winning FG in the overtime period.
