1988 Week 5 | Washington Redskins 23 : New York Giants 24

An early missed extra point rendered a late Washington rally futile as the Skins dropped another game to a division rival.

The Redskins answered a Giants FG with a TD in the first quarter, but Chip Lohmiller missed Washington's extra point. New York outscored the Skins 14-3 for the rest of the first half leading to a 17-9 lead.

The Giants scored again after halftime to widen the lead to 24-9, but Rypien and the Redskins WRs started to click. Two long TD passes to Ricky Sanders brought Washington to within a point, but Lohmiller missed a game winning FG attempt just before the two minute warning.
