The teams played to a 3-3 halftime tie. New York broke the tie with a third quarter field goal, but the Redskins responded with a long scoring drive capped by a Rypien-to-Sanders TD strike. Washington held a 10-6 lead going into the fourth quarter.
In the final period, the Giants' offense finally emerged, and the scored TDs on two successive drives, pulling out to a 20-10 lead. Washington was able to answer with a Monk TD reception, but could not add a tying or go-ahead score and fell once more to the Giants.
