The Redskins were brought back down to Earth at the hands of a methodical 49ers team.
Joe Montana threw first half TDs to Jerry Rice and John Taylor, and although Washington answered with a Rypien-to-Monk TD pass, San Francisco built a 20-10 halftime lead.
Both teams could only manage field goals in the second half, and the 49ers were able to cruise away with the victory.
