Redskins fans haven't seemed to find it easy to bask in any kind of glow of Saturday's 17-10 win over the Bucs. Many of us were left with a distinct feeling of escaping, of narrowly avoiding being embarrased by an opponent we had on the ropes.

Well, there's a little more than a day until game time. Hard not to be on pins and needles, so here are some thoughts to tide us all over:

It's refreshing that for once, we Redskins fans can actually be relieved that franchise owner Daniel Snyder has opened his checkbook to attract a well-known name. Signing Gregg Williams to such an extended contract, even though it doesn't prevent him from leaving at any point, sends exactly the right message to the league and the team at exactly the right time.

As Shawn Taylor's swan dive into the end zone iced the game, and the Redskins nation collectively exhaled, the 2005 team fittingly won its way into the playoffs in the fashion that so many of us expected when the season started.
